In a heartwarming display of compassionate parenting, Chris, a father from India, recently shared a viral post on Instagram about how he handled his 6-year-old son's first bullying incident.

The incident occurred at school when the boy, unaware of the consequences, hit a classmate gently. Chris explained to his son that if multiple children in class bully someone, it is considered bullying. He made it clear that such behaviour is unacceptable.

The boy was also reminded that if he likes something, they can get it for him, but taking a classmate's eraser was not the way to go. The boy admitted to his mistake and expressed a desire to be a hero, not a bully.

Chris, instead of scolding or punishing his son, handled the situation with wisdom. He encouraged the boy to explain to his friend that hitting a classmate is wrong. He also took the opportunity to teach his son about peer pressure and hormonal changes, factors that contribute to bullying in middle and high school.

The post received an outpouring of positive comments. People praised Chris for teaching his son right from wrong and for encouraging compassion and empathy. Comments such as "This dad is raising a true gentleman," "This is healthy parenting," and "I'm glad he wasn't scolded or yelled at" were common.

The post also included a question that resonated with many: "Do you want to be a bully?" It seems Chris's approach is making a difference, as the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in India found that 42% of school students have faced bullying, with bullying happening more often in middle and high school.

In the end, the boy was taken to school by his father to apologise to the girl he had bullied. Chris's approach not only taught his son a valuable lesson but also set an example for other parents to follow. It's clear that Chris is raising a thoughtful, empathetic, and respectful son, who is learning to be a hero, not a villain.
