Fed authorities apprehended known robbers in a recent law enforcement action
In the early hours of Saturday morning, an attempted robbery took place on S-Bahn line 41 between the stations Halensee and Westend in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district of Berlin.
The incident unfolded around 4:45 AM, with the suspects targeting a sleeping passenger during the robbery attempt. However, alert passengers intervened, approaching the suspects and telling them to stop. Despite this, the suspects managed to flee the train before the officers could make an arrest.
A manhunt was immediately launched, and on Sunday, the Federal Police Directorate in Berlin successfully arrested a 24-year-old Ukrainian and a 28-year-old Moldovan accomplice. The arrest was made at the Westkreuz station, with officers from the Lengerich police station, including members of the Lengerich criminal investigation department and a police dog handler, playing a key role in the operation.
The 24-year-old Ukrainian was taken into custody due to an existing arrest warrant for previous thefts and bodily harm. The 28-year-old Moldovan was ordered to be held in investigative custody by a judge.
