Headline: Federal Police Investigate Dangerous Interference with Rail Traffic Near Celle

On Friday evening, August 29, 2025, a dangerous incident occurred on the railway tracks between the Fuhse Canal and the "Zum Kiebitzsee" street in Celle. The ICE 775 train struck stones on the tracks, causing significant disruption to rail services.

According to the Federal Police Inspectorate Bremen, the train's wheel assembly was damaged in the incident. This incident serves as a stark reminder that such interferences can lead to serious consequences, including trains being damaged or derailing.

Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the incident. However, the train had to be stopped in Hannover due to the damage, causing a delay of 80 minutes for a total of 5 trains. The train could only continue to Hannover Central Station at reduced speed after an unscheduled stop in Isernhagen.

The Federal Police are actively investigating this incident and seeking witnesses who may have seen possible culprits near the railway tracks on the day of the incident. If you have any information, please contact the Federal Police Inspectorate Bremen at 0421/16299-7777 or by email at [email protected]. It is important to note that entering railway premises is always dangerous, according to the Federal Police. Such actions pose a danger not only to potential perpetrators but also to unsuspecting bystanders. Laying stones on railway tracks significantly increases the risk, as they can become uncontrolled projectiles when hit by trains. This can lead to significant property damage.

The perpetrators who placed stones on the railway tracks between the Fuhse Canal and "Zum Kiebitzsee" street in Celle on Friday evening were not found at the scene. The Federal Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help them in their investigation.

Press inquiries regarding the incident should be directed to the Federal Police Inspectorate Bremen.
