Federal Law Enforcement Agents at Hamburg Airport: Arrest Made Following Theft Incident Leading to Detention
On Saturday, a 25-year-old Georgian national was detained at Hamburg Airport during the border police exit control. The incident was reported by news aktuell and transmitted via the Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg.
The Georgian national was attempting to fly from Hamburg to Kutaisi, but was found to be wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Hannover for theft since September 2024. The penalty for the theft was 100 days of imprisonment at €13 per day, plus €81 in costs, or alternatively, 50 days of detention. However, the traveler was unable to pay the imposed penalty.
In an attempt to seek help, the Georgian national called a friend, but received no assistance. As a result, the individual was taken to the Holstenglacis detention center.
