Federal law enforcement apprehends 19-year-old individual lacking a valid ticket, subsequently discovering a case of mobile phone theft
In an incident that took place on August 16, 2025, at 3:19 AM, a 19-year-old Algerian national was stopped by a train conductor on an Intercity-Express train from Hannover to Stendal.
The passenger, who could only present a ticket valid for North Rhine-Westphalia, was found to be travelling on an invalid ticket for the current route. On the platform, it was proven that the man had stolen a mobile phone.
Witnesses and victims were identified by the vigilant train staff, who also noticed that the man had allegedly opened luggage of other passengers and searched for valuables. Other passengers also confirmed these suspicious activities.
Upon arrival at Magdeburg Central Station, the federal police officers took the Algerian national into custody to establish his identity. His personal details were confirmed without doubt via the police information system.
A criminal investigation has been initiated against the man for theft and fraud. The Algerian national is currently under investigation by the Federal Police Inspection Magdeburg.
