Federal law enforcement at Hamburg Airport discover concealed knife inside chocolate bar, raising suspicions
A 62-year-old German citizen, traveling from Hamburg to Basel, found himself in a sticky situation at the airport's security checkpoint. According to the Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg, the traveler's luggage was inspected after something suspicious was noticed during the routine check.
Upon closer inspection, a knife blade, approximately 8 cm in length, was discovered hidden inside a chocolate bar in the traveler's luggage. This action violated the rules and the traveler will have to answer for it in a separate procedure.
Marcus Henschel, the contact person at the Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg, confirmed the incident. The traveler claimed the blade was part of a multi-tool and was not allowed in hand luggage on his last trip. In an attempt to take it on this trip, he dismantled the blade and packed it inside the chocolate bar.
The traveler was released from police measures and allowed to continue his journey to Switzerland.
