Federal Law Enforcement Carries Out Arrests at Reitzenhain Border Crossing, as Perested by the Federal Police
In a series of incidents over the course of a few days in August 2025, several foreign nationals presented themselves for entry control at various border crossings in Germany, only to find that outstanding warrants for their arrest awaited them.
On August 15, the day with the most activity, a 24-year-old Romanian was controlled at the Reitzenhain border crossing at 10:00. An open arrest warrant for fraud, issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Regensburg, was found against him. Another Romanian, a 36-year-old man, presented himself at the Federal Police Inspectorate in Chemnitz on August 17. An arrest warrant for an offense against the Weapons Act was outstanding against him, and an open fine of 600.00 EUR was also pending.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old Polish national was controlled at the same border crossing on August 15 at 15:50. An outstanding warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bielefeld for residential burglary was found in his case. He was taken to the Dresden detention center, where he has a prison sentence of one year and four months to serve.
In a separate incident, a Bulgarian was controlled by federal police officers from the Chemnitz Inspectorate at the Reitzenhain border crossing on the same day. An open arrest warrant for fraud, issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Weiden, was found against the 31-year-old man.
It's important to note that the current head of the Federal Police Inspection (Bundespolizei-Inspektion) Chemnitz is not explicitly named in the available search results.
In some cases, friends or acquaintances managed to pay the required fines, allowing the Romanian and Bulgarian nationals to continue their journeys. A fine of over 1,400.00 EUR was paid in Erfurt for the Bulgarian, while a friend paid the required fine of over 3,700.00 EUR in Kiel for the Romanian national, enabling him to enter the federal territory. The brother-in-law of the Bulgarian also paid a fine of over 1,400.00 EUR in Erfurt.
These incidents highlight the importance of thorough border control and the cooperation between law enforcement agencies in ensuring public safety. The ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain order at Germany's borders continue to be a priority for the Federal Police Inspection.
