Fire Department Updates from August 22-25, 2025 in Dresden's State Capital: Insights into Fire and Rescue Operations
In the city of Dresden, the fire department was kept busy over the weekend of August 22-25, 2025. The team responded to a total of 639 calls, including 13 fire incidents and 50 deployments for technical assistance.
On August 24, 2025, an unusual incident occurred on Alaunstraße, Äußere Neustadt, when a burning candle on a window sill was reported. Remarkably, the candle extinguished itself before the fire department arrived.
Later that day, at 17:56-20:46 hrs, a kitchen fire caused by an electric kettle occurred on the 10th floor of a high-rise building in Pfeifferhannsstraße, Johannstadt. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the incident caused some concern.
The most significant incident occurred on August 25, 2025, in Ermischstraße, Wilsdruffer Vorstadt. A basement fire broke out in a multi-family house, and an elevated carbon monoxide level was found in one apartment. Three people were immediately brought outside for examination of possible smoke gas poisoning.
Unfortunately, the fire resulted in the injury of a 45-year-old man who tried to extinguish the fire before the firefighters arrived. The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The incident in Ermischstraße, Wilsdruffer Vorstadt, required the efforts of 50 personnel from various fire and rescue stations in Dresden, including Albertstadt, Löbtau, Altstadt, and Friedrichstadt. The rescue helicopter Christoph 38 was also requested 11 times.
Over the weekend, the fire department was also called out to six incidents to remove hazards caused by fallen trees or branches, with no injuries reported. Seven false alarms were recorded, triggered by automatic fire alarm systems.
In addition, the services of a doctor were required in 173 cases. A man in distress was secured by a neighbor with a garden hose and prevented from falling over a roughly seven-meter-high wall.
A severe thunderstorm with hail and gusts of wind passed over the city area on August 23, causing no significant incidents.
