Fire in Kitchen of Beckhausen House, Leaves One Person Hurt

On a fateful Sunday, July 6, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded in the quiet neighbourhood of Beckhausen, Gelsenkirchen. A fire broke out in a residential apartment on Sondernkamp Street, causing significant property damage.

The fire department was swiftly on the scene, managing to extinguish the blaze, although not before a 39-year-old resident of Gelsenkirchen sustained severe injuries. The woman, whose identity has been withheld in the available sources, was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

The flames originated from the kitchen of the affected apartment, thankfully posing no danger to other residents of the multi-family building. For safety reasons, the fire department temporarily shut off both electricity and water in the building.

The Gelsenkirchen Police also responded to the incident, and as of now, there are no indications of foul play. One lane of Kurt-Schumacher-Straße was closed during the firefighting operations.

The bravery and quick response of the Gelsenkirchen Fire Department personnel undoubtedly played a crucial role in containing the fire and minimising further damage. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in our homes.

Our thoughts are with the injured resident and her family during this difficult time. Further updates on the investigation and the resident's condition will be shared as they become available.
