Fire ravages historic building, once home to BBC, in western London, according to broadcasting news
A fire broke out early on Saturday morning at the former BBC headquarters, the Television Centre, in London's White City. The fire brigade was called to the scene at 0200 GMT.
Firefighters from multiple stations, including Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, Chiswick, and surrounding stations, are still battling the blaze. The fire has spread to a restaurant, external decking, and ducting, and it is primarily affecting upper floors of the nine-story building.
As of now, there are no reports of injuries or deaths. The exact extent of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be determined. An unknown number of flats may have been affected, but an exact number remains unknown.
The cause of the fire continues to be a mystery. The former BBC Television Centre is owned by a private property developer, not the BBC itself, as the BBC moved its headquarters to Broadcasting House in central London in 2013 and the Television Centre was sold and redeveloped afterward.
Efforts to contain and extinguish the fire are ongoing. The blaze is still affecting the nine-story building, and the fire brigade is doing their utmost to bring the situation under control. The public is advised to avoid the area and follow updates from the fire brigade and local authorities.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
