Firefighting operations undertaken twice by the Sonsbeck Fire Department
Sonsbeck Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Two Incident Reports on August 9, 2025
On August 9, 2025, the Sonsbeck Volunteer Fire Department was called to respond to two incident reports.
The first incident, labeled as 062/2025, occurred at 2:10 AM on the A57, heading towards the Netherlands. Upon arrival, the fire department found no signs of a fire. Instead, it was a false alarm. A total of 11 personnel from the Sonsbeck unit and the police were involved in this incident.
The second incident, labeled as 063/2025, occurred at 6:53 PM. This time, an alarm was raised at a kindergarten on Blumenfeld. Upon investigation, it was found that the cause of the alarm was a smoke detector not directly connected to the fire department. No fire was present.
Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the source of the smoke was a van experiencing engine trouble due to a technical malfunction. No signs of damage were found during the initial inspection, and the vehicle was handed over to its operator.
The fire department concluded its operation at 7:25 PM, having returned after addressing the issue with the van at 2:28 AM.
Lars Rübekeil, the Press and Public Relations Officer of the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Sonsbeck, confirmed the details of the incidents. A total of 12 personnel from the Sonsbeck unit and the police were involved in this second incident.
In both incidents, no signs of a fire were found during the interior inspections. The initial inspections were conducted by checking the premises through the windows from the outside. After a few minutes, an object key was provided, allowing the buildings to be entered and checked without causing any damage.
The Sonsbeck Volunteer Fire Department remains vigilant, ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise in the community.
