First-Person Shooter Update from Firebreak: Removing Enemy Health Indicators is Now an Optional Feature
In September, developer studio Remedy is set to release an expansion for the popular first-person shooter game, FBC: Firebreak. Recognizing the issues of balancing that have caused the game to oscillate between easy and hard, Remedy is hopeful that the update will improve Firebreak's fortunes.
The update will bring a new mission and mechanical adjustments to the game, aiming to provide a more engaging and balanced experience for players. One of the changes includes an option to switch off standard enemy health bars, a move that is considered a positive change by many players.
Patch 1.5, which has already been released, includes numerous tweaks to combat encounters. It rebalances the composition of enemy waves and improves the presentation of the end-of-round "results" screen. One of the fixes in this patch addresses an issue where shooting sticky notes with the burning rounds perk made them wet in FBC: Firebreak.
Rick Lane, a renowned games journalist, has expressed a long-standing interest in PC gaming, starting at the age of seven. Between 2013 and 2022, Lane was games editor of Custom PC magazine and associated website bit-tech.net. Throughout his career, Lane has kept one foot in freelance games journalism, writing for various publications including Edge, Eurogamer, the Guardian, and PC Gamer.
Lane, like many players, has noted that health bars in first-person shooters can distract players from the action and create a similar issue to the 'minimap problem' in driving games. Fewer health bars overall is considered a positive change in FBC: Firebreak, as it allows players to focus more on the action and less on the health bars.
The upcoming September update for Firebreak aims to significantly improve the game, addressing existing problems and providing new content for players to enjoy. With Remedy's commitment to improving the game, fans of FBC: Firebreak can look forward to a more engaging and balanced gaming experience in the near future.
