Five years since its grim, somber premiere, 'The Batman' graced our screens

In the world of DC Comics, excitement is building as the anticipated film, The Batman, continues its journey towards the big screen.

The latest trailer for the movie, starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader, was released in late 2021, amassing over 31 million views within 24 hours and gathering over 65 million views in total. The trailer sparked discussions about its darkness in comparison to the Nolan films and gushing over Colin Farrell's makeup job as Penguin.

The production of The Batman had a rocky start, with the film being paused indefinitely for most of 2020 due to the pandemic. However, the production was readjusted, and filming resumed with precautions in place. Unfortunately, just days after production resumed, Robert Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.

The Batmobile depicted in The Batman is described as the most car-looking in years, a departure from the more sleek and streamlined vehicles seen in previous Batman films.

The Batman in The Batman is kept in his own world separate from other goings-on at the time. This film is technically the start of Warner Bros.' plans to dabble around with a cinematic multiverse.

Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, revealed Robert Pattinson in his Batsuit during the DC FanDome event, the inaugural event that showcased the first look at Matt Reeves' The Batman.

With the success of the first film, fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel, The Batman Part II, which is not due for another two years and change. The director of the sequel movie is also Matt Reeves, with filming scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026, and the movie set to release in October 2027.

However, James Gunn, a prominent figure in the film industry, asked fans to stop pressuring Matt Reeves about The Batman Part II, reminding everyone that the creative process takes time and should be respected.

For those interested in upcoming releases for various franchises, information about Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe on film and TV, and Doctor Who is available.

Tragically, during the pause in production, Andrew Jack, the film's dialect coach, passed away from COVID-19. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

As we look forward to the release of The Batman and its sequel, it's clear that the future of the Dark Knight is in good hands. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
