Flight Disruptions and Long Waits Affect Travelers at Dover and Eurotunnel

In the midst of the busy summer holiday season, travelers using the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle services in Folkestone are experiencing delays.

While P&O Ferries and DFDS continue to operate on schedule, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle is facing challenges. Travelers using the service are facing delays of around 60 minutes during check-in, followed by an additional 30-minute wait at border control, totalling up to one and a half hours.

In an effort to manage traffic flow at the Port of Dover, authorities have implemented TAP (Traffic Access Protocol) measures. However, these protocols are not explicitly mentioned as being used for Eurotunnel Le Shuttle.

Drivers using the Port of Dover are advised to use the A2 and A20 routes to avoid congestion. No such advice has been provided for Eurotunnel Le Shuttle users.

Passengers using the Port of Dover will be placed on the next available crossing after check-in if they miss their scheduled sailing. Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, on the other hand, has reassured customers that they will be accommodated on the next available service if they are delayed.

The responsibility for implementing TAP procedures on the A2 and A20 in Dover to manage traffic flow during the current delays at the Dover port and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle lies with the UK Highways England (National Highways) in coordination with local authorities and the port operators.

Travelers are advised to check in as normal for Eurotunnel Le Shuttle services. Total delays for services between Folkestone and Calais may reach up to one and a half hours.

Despite the delays, both P&O Ferries and DFDS have confirmed that all sailings are currently departing on schedule.

The delays at the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle are expected to continue as the summer holiday season is in full swing, and travelers are advised to plan accordingly.
