In a groundbreaking initiative, travelers in seven countries - Germany, Poland, Chile, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, and more - are being encouraged to register as stem cell donors during their journeys. This international campaign, led by Flix and DKMS, aims to expand the global donor pool for rare genetic profiles and save lives.

The registration process is straightforward and accessible. Interested individuals can visit the DKMS campaign page to register. However, there are some requirements to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the donation process.

Firstly, prospective donors must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 40. Additionally, registration is not permitted for those who are already registered in the donor register or have serious pre-existing conditions. Age is also a factor, with registration open to individuals between 18 and 55 years old.

DKMS, a global leader in the field, is committed to expanding the global donor pool for rare genetic profiles. This is particularly important as approximately 70% of patients rely on unrelated donors.

The need for stem cell donors is urgent. A new diagnosis of blood cancer or other serious blood diseases is made worldwide every 27 seconds. In Germany, a new diagnosis is made every twelve minutes. By registering as a stem cell donor, you could be a potential lifesaver.

So, whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, consider taking a few moments to register as a stem cell donor. Your potential impact could be enormous, and the process is simple and easy. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by blood cancer and other serious blood diseases.
