Florida father, having attempted to drown his daughter-in-law's lover during their joint holiday, has been set free from custody, now under the supervision of an electronic ankle monitor.
Mark Gibbon, Hairdresser, Faces Battery Charges Following Alleged Pool Incident
Mark Gibbon, a 62-year-old hairdresser from Beaconsfield, has been released on bail of £19,200 after being accused of battery by strangulation and simple battery. The charges stem from a heated incident that occurred during a holiday in Florida last month.
According to reports, Gibbon and his girlfriend, Jasmine Wyld, got into an argument that escalated near a hotel pool. Allegedly, Gibbon pushed Ms Wyld underwater, causing her to suffer scratches and bruising. Ms Wyld initially told prosecutors that she "could not breathe" and feared "she would drown."
Initially, Gibbon was accused of attempted murder for repeatedly holding Ms Wyld's head underwater. However, during a court hearing last week, the charge was downgraded to battery by strangulation. Gibbon was also required to pay £700 bail on the additional charge of simple battery.
Gibbon, who runs a hairdressing business called Sage Hairdressing, has met the terms of his bail for the battery by strangulation charge. Police are currently investigating whether this case should be treated as domestic violence.
This incident is said to be around the time Alex and Ms Wyld called off their engagement in 2021. Family insiders claim that Gibbon's son, Alex, allegedly found Ms Wyld in his father's bed around four years ago. Alex was jailed for driving an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne into his father during a public row. He was released seven months ago, and the pair no longer speak.
Neighbours in Beaconsfield describe Ms Wyld as Gibbon's "girlfriend." Gibbon was initially considered a flight risk and was held in Polk County Jail. However, he has since been released. Gibbon is due back in court later this month with his trial expected to take place early next year.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police in Upper Austria are investigating a case involving a 20-year-old Hungarian man living in the region. The man was arrested during a vacation for alleged attempted murder and was involved in a high-speed police chase in Wels. The details of this case are still unfolding.
