Florida State Freshman Linebacker Ethan Pritchard Remains in Critical but Stable Condition After Shooting

Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker for Florida State University, is currently in critical but stable condition following a shooting incident in Tallahassee, Florida, on Sunday night.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating the shooting, which occurred less than 20 miles away from the Florida State campus.

Pritchard, a Seminole High School alumnus from Sanford, Central Florida, was driving his aunt home from a family gathering when the incident took place. He did not play in Florida State's season-opening win vs. Alabama on Saturday.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has remained in contact with Pritchard's father, Earl Pritchard, and was able to visit the player for a short period of time in the hospital. Norvell has also given the team a daily update about Pritchard's condition.

Visitations are limited at the hospital where Pritchard is being treated, but Norvell spoke to Pritchard's father, Earl, this morning. Earl Pritchard spoke to local media a few days after the shooting, expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support from the Florida State community.

Doctors are waiting for the swelling in Pritchard's head to decrease before assessing the damage. No information has been provided about Pritchard's prognosis or the progress of the investigation into the shooting.

The Seminoles will take the field again on Saturday, hosting FCS East Texas A&M. It remains to be seen whether Pritchard will be able to join his teammates on the field.

Our thoughts are with Ethan Pritchard and his family during this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
