Following the gathering of the "Coalition of the Willing," Germany is set to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

The "Coalition of the Willing", an alliance of 26 countries, convened at the Élysée Palace in Paris to discuss potential military support for Ukraine. The meeting, attended by several European heads of state and government, including Olaf Scholz of Germany, Friedrich Merz of Germany, and Boris Johnson of Italy, aimed to present a united front in support of Ukraine.

The gathering marked a significant step in demonstrating the USA's support for Ukraine, as President Zelensky hailed it as the first concrete result in a long time. However, the coalition's intentions remain nuanced, with some members, such as Merz and Starmer, focusing on training and reconnaissance missions rather than armed peacekeeping forces.

Germany, one of the key players in the coalition, has expressed a desire to promote further EU integration of Ukraine and to provide continued financial and economic support. Chancellor Merz also plans to increase Ukraine's air defense by up to 20 percent and upgrade other areas of Ukraine's national defense.

However, disagreements within the coalition persist, particularly regarding the deployment of troops on Ukrainian soil. Some countries, like Poland, have expressed opposition to a military presence, while others remain undecided.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a stark warning, stated that he is ready to achieve his goals in Ukraine "militarily" if peace talks fail. Putin also called on Zelensky to come to Moscow for talks, an invitation Kyiv rejected as "unacceptable."

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, warned against foreign intervention in Ukraine, stating it would pose a threat to the European continent. Sahra Wagenknecht, a German politician, also opposes more arms deliveries and a possible deployment of the Bundeswehr in Ukraine.

In a move to strengthen ties with the USA, Macron announced closer coordination in the coming days. Despite the coalition's efforts, doubts have been raised about the success of the talks, as the coalition has met several times without concrete results.

Russian President Putin's aggressive stance towards Ukraine and the ongoing disagreements within the coalition suggest a complex and volatile situation in the region. As the coalition stands politically and militarily on the side of Ukraine, with the goal of restoring the Ukrainian army and deterring further Russian attacks, the future remains uncertain.
