Following the stabbing incident at the Fronhof, authorities have shared further information on the incident.

In the aftermath of a tragic knife attack at the "Festival der Vielfalt" in Solingen on Friday evening, several key figures are taking action to address the situation.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD), NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst, and NRW Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul (CDU) are en route to the crime scene. The attack, which left three individuals dead and eight others injured, has sent shockwaves through the community.

The suspect in the attack is identified as Issa al Hasan, a 27-year-old Syrian Islamist who was previously convicted for an attack that claimed three lives and injured eight others on August 23, 2024. However, a 15-year-old arrested on Saturday is not the suspect in question.

The police are actively investigating the incident, with numerous operations ongoing, including searches and investigations. The status of the crime weapon is currently under investigation.

Four of the injured victims are in critical condition, receiving intensive care. Witnesses are urged to provide any photos or videos taken before, during, and after the incident to the police immediately. This can be done through the police's tip portal, which can be accessed at the provided URL, or by contacting the police in Wuppertal at 0202 / 284 - 0. In urgent cases, witnesses can use the emergency number 110.

The police are also seeking additional material on site, with officers available to assist. Numerous video and photo materials are being received through the police's tip portal.

Another unknown person is believed to have discussed plans with the arrested teenager that match the attack in Solingen. The teenager is accused of "failure to report a planned crime".

As the investigation continues, an increased number of officers will be present in Solingen to ensure the safety of the community. Police forces from across North Rhine-Westphalia and the whole of Germany have been deployed to aid in the efforts.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this senseless act of violence. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.
