Football offensive tackle from Tennessee expected to be absent for the game against ETSU
Tennessee Volunteers Look to Maintain Momentum Against ETSU in Week 2
After a dominant opening game, the Tennessee Volunteers are preparing to take on ETSU in Week 2 of the 2025 college football season. The Volunteers, who are currently a 41-point favourite, are entering the matchup following a 45-26 victory.
In Week 1, the Volunteers' offensive line looked elite, not allowing a single sack on quarterback Joey Aguilar and racking up 246 rushing yards on 6.2 yards per carry against Syracuse. Star transfer running back Thomas contributed a game-high 92 rushing yards.
Quarterback Joey Aguilar, an Appalachian State transfer, replaced Iamaleava and had a solid outing, recording 247 passing yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and 34 rushing yards. The Volunteers' offense remained fluid despite losing Nico Iamaleava.
Junior Brian Grant is likely to get another start at right tackle for Tennessee in Week 2, as star freshman offensive tackle David Sanders is out with a minor injury. Sanders, the top-rated offensive tackle of the 2025 freshman class, committed to Tennessee over offers from Ohio State, Nebraska, Georgia, Clemson, North Carolina, and others.
ETSU, who started the year 1-0, allowed 17 points to Murray State in their first game of the season. The team is led by former Michigan and Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara.
Joining Brian Grant in the starting lineup for Tennessee's Week 2 game against ETSU will be Sam Pendleton, Jesse Perry, Wendell Moe Jr., and Lance Heard Jr. The Volunteers will be looking to maintain momentum against ETSU and continue their strong start to the season.
