Football player Shedeur Sanders pledges continued improvement as the Browns' preseason draws to a close, expressing a willingness to learn more.
In the NFL's 2025 season, Shedeur Sanders, the fifth-round rookie quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, has been making waves as one of the most talked-about rookies in history. However, his preseason performance has been met with mixed results.
Sanders, who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado coach Deion Sanders, started the preseason on a high note, tossing a pair of touchdown passes in his unofficial NFL debut against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. But Saturday night marked the conclusion of an uneven preseason for Sanders.
During the third week of the preseason, Sanders struggled mightily in the second half against the Los Angeles Rams. He completed just three of six passes for 14 yards and took five sacks. The Browns' offense stalled, and Sanders was replaced by Tyler Huntley, who led the team on a game-winning drive.
Sanders was caught off guard by Huntley's entry into the game. Coach Kevin Stefanski, however, insisted that giving Tyler Huntley some work had always been the plan. Sanders acknowledged there is a lot to learn from the preseason and expressed his gratitude to fans and his determination to continue improving on Instagram.
The Browns are expected to keep four quarterbacks on the roster, and Sanders' position remains uncertain, potentially behind Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett. Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds ahead of Sanders, is also in line for a roster spot.
Veteran quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was traded away during the summer, is also in contention for a roster spot. Sanders' struggles against the Rams might have opened the door for Pickett's return.
Despite the setbacks, Sanders has remained positive and thankful for the love and support he has received. His father, Deion Sanders, has been a constant source of encouragement, reminding him to stay focused and keep working hard.
As the regular season approaches, Sanders will need to step up his game and prove that he deserves a spot on the Browns' roster. With the competition heating up, it will be interesting to see how Sanders performs in the coming weeks.
