Football team Toronto Argonauts secure the return of long snapper Simon Chaves through a trade agreement with rival team Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Toronto Argonauts have made a move to bolster their roster, trading a seventh-round pick in the 2027 CFL Draft for long snapper Simon Chaves from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This comes as the Argonauts' current long snapper, Adam Guillemette, has been unable to practice this week.

Simon Chaves, a native of Guelph, Ontario, brings a wealth of experience to the Argonauts. He has previously played for the Tiger-Cats, snapping in the past two games of the current season. Before joining the Tiger-Cats, Chaves spent time with the Edmonton Elks and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and even had a brief stint with the Argonauts last season where he snapped in one game.

Chaves' CFL career began with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but he was released and later signed by the Ottawa Redblacks. There, he filled in for the injured Peter Adjey, snapping in six games. However, after no longer being needed by the Redblacks, Chaves was released once more.

The Argonauts (2-8) will host the B.C. Lions (5-5) at BMO Field on Saturday, August 23. The Lions are coming off a 36-18 win over the Montreal Alouettes. Kickoff for the game is slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT.

The Argonauts are coming off a tough loss against the Edmonton Elks (28-20). The weather forecast in Toronto for the game calls for a high of 27 degrees, cloudy conditions, and a 30 percent chance of rain.

Fans in Canada can catch the game on TSN and CTV, while international viewers can watch on CFL+. Radio listeners can tune in on 730 CKNW in Vancouver and TSN 1050 in Toronto.

Meanwhile, the Tiger-Cats are enjoying a much-needed bye week. One player set to return after the break is starter Gordon Whyte.

As for Simon Chaves' past wrestling career, he won an OUA silver medal in wrestling. However, there is no information available about his current location or future team beyond his time with the Argonauts.

This promises to be an exciting match, and with the addition of Simon Chaves, the Argonauts will undoubtedly be looking to turn their season around.
