Foreign affairs at a crucial phase, China's Wang Yi claims, advocating for relationship restoration with South Korea
In a meeting with a South Korean delegation led by former speaker of the National Assembly, Lee Jae-myung, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed a desire to strengthen China-South Korea ties. The meeting took place on August 24 in Beijing, with Wang delivering a statement emphasizing China's commitment to its relationship with South Korea.
According to the Chinese statement, the relationship between the two nations is at a critical juncture for improvement and development. Wang Yi urged both sides to firmly uphold the direction of friendship between China and South Korea, and recommended proper handling of sensitive issues. However, the statement did not provide any new information on specific sensitive issues that South Korea and the US plan to address, nor did it offer any new insights into how to handle these issues.
In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister suggested expanding common interests and improving sentiment between the two peoples.
