Four cyclists, Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, and Isaac del Toro, are preparing for a four-person competition taking place in Andorra in October.

The picturesque nation of Andorra is set to host a unique cycling event on October 19, with the first-ever Andorra Cycling Masters promising an exciting spectacle for fans.

With a longstanding relationship with Grand Tours and races like the Volta a Catalunya, Andorra has become a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts. This year, the country is set to host a two-part event that will form part of the countdown to stage 7 of the Vuelta a España, which started in Andorra la Vella.

The event will consist of an uphill time trial and a city centre circuit, with four of the very best riders competing directly against each other to determine who is the champion of champions. Tadej Pogačar, Primož Roglič, Jonas Vingegaard, and Isaac del Toro will participate in the historic race.

David Quintana, the event organiser, stated that they had been looking for a way to create an event that is cycling-based but doesn't occupy the same space as stage racing or criteriums. The aim is to offer fans a closer look at their idols, filming the riders' interactions before the race.

The city centre race will have different points systems in play throughout to keep viewers engaged, and the details of the second race have yet to be confirmed and worked out with the Andorra local authorities. The race will have a collective 'GC' comprising the times from the time trial and the city centre event.

The Andorra Cycling Masters is not classified as a UCI-ranked event, and it will not involve teams. Instead, only four riders will be on the start list. The race will last approximately two hours in total, and it will not only consist of the race day, but also the countdown "from the moment the riders arrive in Andorra."

Apart from the Andorra Cycling Masters, Andorra has also hosted the Andorra MoraBanc Clássica, its first UCI-ranked event. The organisers aim to create a new approach to racing, both on and off the bike, for the broader public to watch and gain behind-the-scenes viewing.
