Fresh Academic Leadership Embodies Resolute Direction

Hertha BSC Announces New Leadership for Football Academy

Hertha BSC has announced a new leadership team for its football academy, with Bjoern Mueller and Sasan Gouhari set to take charge as a dual leadership. This decision is seen as a positive move, bringing in fresh ideas and a proven force to the academy.

Bjoern Mueller, a football coach by trade, will assume the sporting leadership of the academy. He has an extensive background in the youth sector, having previously worked as a youth coordinator at SG Empfingen, and later gaining his Football Teacher License at the Hennes-Weisweiler-Academy in 2013. Mueller's coaching career includes stints as an assistant coach at SV Darmstadt 98 and SV Meppen, and serving as assistant coach of the U19 national team under Frank Kramer.

Sasan Gouhari, a native Berliner, will be responsible for the administrative and organizational leadership tasks at the academy. He returned to Hertha BSC in 2022, initially responsible for budgeting and contract management in the football academy. Later, Gouhari became the deputy director of the academy.

President Fabian Drescher, Ralf Huschen, the managing director of Hertha BSC, and Benjamin Weber, the sporting director, all support this new leadership combination. Weber believes it is a promising move for the academy, while Huschen is pleased with the new leadership.

This decision is an important step in the restructuring process of Hertha BSC's academy. The positions of the coordinators in the academy will be filled in the next step of the restructuring process. Mueller and Gouhari stand for fresh ideas and extensive expertise in the youth sector, and their leadership is expected to bring positive changes to the academy.
