Friends with two active warrants face financial dilemma: one must cover both debts

In an unusual turn of events, a 26-year-old Romanian visited the Federal Police office in Kiel station on August 17, 2025. The man was there to pay a fine of 50 euros for his friend, who had an arrest warrant.

The Federal Police Directorate in Bad Bramstedt, a federal authority operating in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the North and Baltic Seas, was involved in the incident. The Directorate employs approximately 2,600 staff members, including police officers, administrative staff, and contract employees.

Interestingly, the Federal Police Directorate in Bad Bramstedt is the only Federal Police Directorate with a maritime component, "Federal Police Sea," to monitor the sea border in the North and Baltic Seas. The Directorate has operational units in Flensburg, Kiel, Rostock, Stralsund, Pasewalk, and a Federal Police Inspectorate for Combating Crime in Rostock, as well as a Mobile Control and Surveillance Unit.

The 24-year-old Romanian, who was serving a substitute prison sentence of 10 days or paying 600 euros plus court costs, was arrested by the Federal Police Inspectorate in Chemnitz. After the payment was made, both individuals were released.

The Federal Police Inspectorate in Kiel is a part of the Federal Police Directorate in Bad Bramstedt. The organization that pursued the 26-year-old Roman man from Kiel with an arrest warrant or immediate payment of 50 euros is not identified in the provided search results.
