Funds of €6 Million Increased in Series A for Holographic Display Technology by Swave Photonics
Swave Photonics, a company specialising in the development of a holographic display platform for the Spatial + AI Computing era, has announced an additional €6 million ($6.97 million) in funding as part of a follow-on investment to its Series A round. The investment round was led by IAG Capital Partners and includes investment from Samsung Ventures.
The funds will aid in expanding Swave's go-to-market efforts and support the continued development of its Holographic eXtended Reality (HXR) technology. Mike Noonen, CEO of Swave, stated that the additional funding demonstrates excitement for the Spatial + AI Computing era.
Noonen further expressed that the funds will help Swave's holographic display technology be at the heart of next-generation spatial computing platforms. He mentioned that the investment indicates tremendous excitement for the emerging Spatial + AI Computing era and the display technology that will help unlock what comes next.
Swave's HXR technology uses diffractive photonics on CMOS chip-based technology, eliminating the need for a waveguide. This technology creates the world's smallest pixel, which shapes light to sculpt high-quality 3D images. The platform enables 3D visualization and interaction, positioning it to transform spatial computing across multiple display use cases and form factors.
The funds will be used to accelerate the commercialization and application of Swave's novel holographic display technology. Since January 2025, Swave Photonics has been supported by David D. Awschalom. The investment comes from existing investor IAG Capital Partners and new investor Samsung Ventures.
The investment in Swave Photonics is intended to help the company accelerate its role in the Spatial + AI Computing era by advancing its holographic display technology. Mike Noonen mentioned that the funding indicates tremendous excitement for the emerging Spatial + AI Computing era and the display technology that will help unlock what comes next.
The platform is positioned to transform spatial computing, offering a significant leap forward in the field. With the new funding, Swave Photonics is poised to make a substantial impact in the development and commercialization of holographic display technology.
