Funeral Arrangements Unveiled for Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani, the legendary Italian fashion designer who redefined Italian fashion on the world stage, was buried in a private family ceremony on Monday in Rivalta di Gazzola, south of Milan.
The death of Armani, who passed away as previously announced by his company on Thursday, was met with widespread mourning. Over the weekend, thousands of people filed past his coffin, which was on display next to the headquarters of his multi-billion-euro lifestyle company in Milan.
Armani's style revolutionised global fashion with his trademark sleek, understated designs. Over the decades, he dressed Hollywood stars, world leaders, and athletes, building a global empire that extended beyond clothing into lifestyle, interiors, fragrances, and luxury accessories. His style became synonymous with elegance and sophistication.
The burial ceremony was confirmed by local officials on Sunday. The ceremony will be held at the family's chapel, where Armani's mother is also interred. Security will be deployed to ensure the privacy of the funeral, scheduled for mid-afternoon.
In a show of respect, the Armani company announced that its shops in Italy will close on Monday afternoon. The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, has also announced a day of mourning in his city on Monday. The local association for the castles in the region has also made this announcement.
Armani founded his eponymous label in 1975 and built an empire that continues to thrive today. His impact on the fashion industry will be felt for generations to come.
