Galeon's 560 Fly model yacht: Could it be the most impressive flybridge ever constructed?
Introducing the Galeon 560 Fly: A New Vision in Luxury Yachting
The yachting world is abuzz with excitement about the latest offering from Galeon Yachts – the Galeon 560 Fly. Replacing the outgoing Galeon 550 Fly, this new flybridge yacht design promises to redefine the way we experience luxury on the water.
The Galeon 560 Fly boasts a significantly larger cockpit compared to its predecessor, offering more space for relaxation and entertainment. But it's not just the size that sets it apart; the design is innovative, with the starboard side terrace featuring a sofa that can be folded down over the sea or closed to face into the saloon, transforming the space as needed.
The yacht's exterior design, by Tony Castro Yacht Design, is as striking as it is functional. The hull and superstructure are made of resin infused GRP, while the flybridge and hardtop mouldings are crafted from carbon fibre to keep the centre of gravity low. This, combined with the yacht's distinctive shovel-nosed appearance due to its heavily flared bow, makes the Galeon 560 Fly a standout on the water.
Inside, the Galeon 560 Fly is a testament to brave new ideas that add real value to the way boats are used. The VIP cabin, located at the front of the yacht, is exceptionally bright thanks to big hull windows and a skylight. It shares its Jack-and-Jill ensuite with the starboard side twin. The port side terrace, on the other hand, can be transformed into an attractive bar area with the aid of plug-in stools and an opening window into the aft galley.
The lower-deck layout consists of three cabins and two bathrooms, including a generous crew cabin tucked astern with discreet access through a door in the transom. The full beam owner's cabin is amidships, featuring a forward-facing centreline bed, flanking mini-sofa and vanity desk, and an ensuite by the cabin door.
The flybridge is a highlight of the Galeon 560 Fly, with two matching C-shaped dinettes on either side that can be joined in the middle to create one large dining area spanning the entire width of the flybridge. The folding aft terraces have glass inserts allowing guests to view the water beneath them while sitting at the bar. Moreover, the new folding bulwarks form part of a continuous run of glazing that extends almost the full length of the topsides from the transom to the bow, promising exceptional levels of natural light below decks.
Powering the Galeon 560 Fly are either 800hp or 900hp Volvo Penta D13s on V-drives, delivering maximum speeds of 30-32 knots.
With an LOA of 58ft 5in (17.82m), the Galeon 560 Fly fills the slot between the 500 Fly and the bigger Galeon 640 Fly. UK prices start at £1.37m ex taxes, but expect a typical delivery to weigh in at around £2m, including VAT and a generous set of extras. Some of the big-ticket options include a Seakeeper 9 gyro-stabilizer, a wide range of exotic veneers and finishes inside, and metallic hull paint outside.
Galeon Yachts has been praised by our website editor, Hugo Andreae, for consistently coming up with brave new ideas that add real value to the way their boats are used. The Galeon 560 Fly is no exception, offering a unique blend of style, functionality, and luxury that is sure to make it a standout in the yachting world.
