Gathering at the onset of the climate event 'Heroes for Future' in Aschaffenburg

In the picturesque city of Aschaffenburg, a new and innovative educational initiative has been launched to raise awareness about climate change and health. The "Heroes for the Future" Climate Rally, developed by the LGL as part of the ZebRA research project, offers a barrier-free, low-traffic route suitable for a one-hour family outing for older children and anyone interested with a smartphone.

The rally, which starts on the Schlossplatz, features ten stations that lead participants from the Schlossplatz to the Grossmutterwiese. The educational content is delivered via the Healthy CliMATE app, a medium designed to engage various age groups, including children, adults, and seniors.

The Climate Rally, launched by the city of Aschaffenburg along with Health Minister Judith Gerlach and Prof. Dr. med. Caroline Herr, aims to show children and families how climate change affects them and how they can protect their health. The interactive stations introduce children aged 8 and above to health risks associated with climate factors.

The Climate Rally's educational content is designed to raise awareness about local climate change impacts and the importance of local action. It is considered an excellent addition to existing climate-related educational formats, complemented by established climate walks offered by the city's climate adaptation manager.

The Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention (StMGP) funds the Climate Rally, making its information accessible for free to all Bavarian cities and communities. As of May 2025, all Bavarian cities and communities can order their own Climate Rallies for free from the LGL.

For those who prefer a more traditional approach, the Climate Rally's information can be accessed via a website (www.ourwebsite/klima-rallye). The rally is focused on climate change and health, providing information on climate change and health for various target groups through different mediums.

The Climate Rally is a significant step towards educating the public about climate change and its impact on health. It encourages active participation and interactive learning, making it an engaging and informative experience for all.
