An operational conference on combating international vehicle trafficking was held in Warsaw, Poland, from September 2nd to 4th, 2025, as part of the EU-funded "ISF LUMEN" project. The conference was co-organised by the Central Investigation Bureau of the Polish Police (Centralne Biuro Śledcze Policji, CBSP) and the Specialist Commission of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office.

The conference, which was the second of its kind, served as an internationally-oriented meeting aimed at developing cross-border strategies against organized vehicle crime. The event was funded by the Internal Security Fund of the EU and was part of the "ISF LUMEN" project, which is chaired by the European Commission. The Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office leads the overall project.

The conference saw the attendance of 52 police officers from 16 investigation units in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. During the event, 21 criminal cases were presented and discussed, with a focus on strengthening the joint approach to combating cross-border criminal groups, predominantly from Eastern Europe.

Since the project began in January 2023, significant progress has been made. Over 120 stolen vehicles have been recovered, and 503 criminal cases have been processed in 37 joint operations. Monetary assets worth over 700,000 euros have been seized, and several convictions are still pending. In addition, since the project began, 105 search warrants and 49 arrest warrants have been executed.

The conference highlighted the growing importance of international cooperation in combating organized vehicle crime. As the project continues, it is expected that these efforts will continue to yield positive results in the fight against this transnational crime.
