Geely Auto and Jameel Motors finalize distribution deal for the Italian market

In a significant move towards global expansion, Geely Auto has signed a distribution agreement with Jameel Motors. This strategic partnership aims to bring Geely's new energy vehicles (NEVs) to the Italian market, marking a pivotal stride in Geely Auto's global strategy.

Under the agreement, two of Geely Auto's NEV models will be introduced to Italy. These include a next-generation plug-in hybrid SUV and an all-electric Geely EX5. The partnership is expected to culminate in the launch of these models in Italy later this year.

Jameel Motors, with over 80 years of automotive distribution experience and operations spanning multiple continents, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, will build comprehensive business infrastructure in Italy. This includes sales and aftermarket services, as well as a nationwide dealership and service network of approximately 100 sites.

The collaboration between Geely Auto and Jameel Motors integrates innovation, quality, and a shared vision for sustainable mobility. Fady Jameel, vice chairman, international at Abdul Latif Jameel, expressed eagerness to set a new benchmark for electric mobility for Italian customers. Moe Wang, deputy general manager at Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC), commented that the collaboration will help Geely deliver green, intelligent, and safe mobility solutions.

Since 2023, Milan has been home to the Geely Innovation Design Centre, a crucial part of Geely's global design network. This centre plays a role in shaping Geely's future vehicle concepts for international markets. The centre's contribution to the partnership was highlighted by Fady Jameel, who stated that the collaboration with Geely Auto aligns with their commitment to innovation.

Despite import tariffs placed on Chinese EVs by the European Union, both partners pointed to the increasing demand for NEVs in the Italian market as cause for this increased investment. According to the European Alternative Fuels Observatory (EAFO), EVs and plug-in hybrids accounted for 11% of new car registrations in Italy in the first five months of 2025, a 132% increase year-on-year.

Jameel Motors secured the distribution rights for Geely in Italy over local and international contenders. The company's extensive experience and wide-reaching network are expected to contribute significantly to Geely's success in the Italian market.

The search results do not provide information about the name of the chairman or general director of Jameel Motors involved in the contract with Geely Automotive International Corporation. However, the partnership is a testament to Geely's commitment to expanding its global presence and Jameel Motors' dedication to bringing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions to the Italian market.
