Michał Kwiatkowski Prepares for Post-Vuelta a España Racing Schedule

Michał Kwiatkowski, the Polish cyclist who has had an impressive career, is currently participating in the Vuelta a España. Despite some setbacks earlier in the year, Kwiatkowski is feeling good and is determined to perform at his best.

Kwiatkowski was forced to abandon the Tour de Pologne earlier this summer due to illness, not a knee injury from Strade Bianche, as some speculated. However, he had been in the thick of the action during the Tour de Pologne, particularly on the steep Stage 2 ascent to Karpacz.

The cyclist stated that it's a shame he was injured earlier this year, as it prevented him from participating in the Tour de France and the Tour of Britain. Kwiatkowski led the Vuelta a España twice, in 2016 and again in 2018, but his current participation in the race has not been without challenges. He was ruled out five kilometers from the line on stage 12 of the Vuelta a España while in the breakaway.

Despite these setbacks, Kwiatkowski has nothing to complain about regarding his current participation in the Vuelta a España. He mentioned that he has had a hard fight to get back on terms after his injury in the first half of the season.

Kwiatkowski is currently racing in the Vuelta a España instead of the Tour of Britain, where his teammate, former Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas, is marking his last days as a professional racer. Kwiatkowski expressed that he wishes he could have participated in the Tour of Britain with Thomas, but is committed to his current race.

After the Vuelta a España, Kwiatkowski is considering several options for races. These include Croatia, Guangxi, and an Italian block of racing. Kwiatkowski stated that he wants to be at 100% if he participates in a race, and his focus is on recovering and preparing for his post-Vuelta a España schedule.

Kwiatkowski's career has been marked by numerous achievements, including winning the rainbow jersey in the city of Ponferrada during the 2014 World Championships. Stage 17 of the Vuelta a España will go through the city of Ponferrada, where Kwiatkowski won the rainbow jersey five years ago.

Being Thomas' teammate for the last decade has been highly motivating for Kwiatkowski and many others. Kwiatkowski expressed admiration for Thomas' career and his decision to retire on his own terms. Kwiatkowski helped lead out stage winner Ben Turner on stage 2 of the Tour de Pologne and guided Turner through the pack for the victory on stage 4 of the Vuelta a España.

Beyond Kwiatkowski, there is no specific publicly available information naming other racing drivers who will not participate in the 2025 World Championships. Notable mentions include Sergio Pérez losing his Red Bull seat at the end of 2024 and possibly changing series, but no explicit list of absentees is found.

As Kwiatkowski continues to race in the Vuelta a España, he is looking forward to the future and the opportunities that lie ahead. His focus is on recovery and preparation for his post-Vuelta a España racing schedule.
