Obituary: Gerald "Jere" Heisey Brandt (1939-2025)

Gerald "Jere" Heisey Brandt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 86. Jere was born to Jay and Elizabeth Heisey Brandt in 1939.

Jere graduated from Donegal High School in 1957 and later served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. After his military service, he began his career at R.R. Donnelley & Sons, where he worked for 42 years. Later, he also worked at the Manheim Auto Auction.

Jere was a longtime member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Mountville, a place he held dear. He was also a member of Columbia Lodge #286 Masons.

Jere was survived by his wife Shirley K. Steinman Brandt, children Keith and Kim, granddaughters Taylor, Morgan, Brooke, and great-granddaughter Ella Ray Qiu. He also had a brother named Clyde Brandt.

Jere enjoyed family moments, especially his granddaughters' sporting events. He will be remembered for his love for family and his dedication to his faith.

The funeral service for Jere will be held at Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11 AM. Family and friends can visit Jere's funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Mountville, 100 West Main Street, Mountville, PA 17554, or online at www.saintpaulsumc.church. The donation made by Jere's family after his death in August 2025 was a testament to his deep connection with the church.

The interment for Jere will take place immediately after the service at Silver Spring Cemetery. The family appreciates the care provided by Hospice & Community Care during this difficult time.
