In a closely contested match, the Düsseldorfer EG (DEG) fell short against ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), losing 2:3 (0:3, 1:0, 1:0).

The hosts found themselves in a tough position early on, going into the first intermission with a 0:3 deficit. The first goal came just 1 minute and 10 seconds into the game, courtesy of Alex Breton, followed by the second goal at 8 minutes and 15 seconds by an ERC Ingolstadt player. Wayne Simpson scored the third goal for the visitors 19 seconds after the second, putting them in a commanding position.

The DEG showed resilience in the second period, with Torsten Ankert replacing Luis Uffing in the lineup. Ankert, a DEL veteran, made his presence felt, and it was his teammate, Jacob Pivonka, who scored the DEG's only goal of the game at 33 minutes and 20 seconds, making the score 1:3.

The DEG continued to push for an equaliser in the final period, with players such as Justin Richards and Bernhard Ebner having close shots at goal, but they were denied by the excellent goalkeeping of Heljanko. Henrik Haukeland, the DEG's goalkeeper, also made some impressive saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

In the dying minutes of the game, with two minutes left, Reinprecht pulled the goalie in a desperate bid to salvage a point. However, it was ERC Ingolstadt who scored again, with Drake Rymsha finding the back of the net with just 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining, securing a 2:3 victory for the visitors.

The loss leaves the DEG at the bottom of the table, but they will look to bounce back in their next game against Adler Mannheim on Friday at the PSD Bank Dome at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the upcoming game are available at www.degtickets.de.

The DEG will face the Lions on Sunday, followed by games against Nürnberg and Bremerhaven. Torsten Ankert, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury, is aiming to continue his career and future in hockey. Let's hope for a better outcome in the upcoming games for the DEG.
