Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Konect under scrutiny: Exploring the method that reduces costs and opens up fresh income opportunities.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root Launches Konect: A Comprehensive EV Charging Solution
Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR), a pioneer in the manufacturing of equipment and technologies for convenience stores and fuel stations worldwide, has launched a new business named Konect. This innovative venture provides turnkey electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions for fleets and forecourt operators.
With approximately 4,000 employees working globally, GVR is well-equipped to deliver this comprehensive solution. Konect aims to help customers optimize investments by selecting appropriate sites, maximizing uptime, and reducing operational costs.
The launch of Konect took place at the UNITI expo, a trade fair for fuel retailers, in May. Initially, the focus is on Europe and North America, but promising projects underway suggest expansions to other regions later.
Konect is designed to be scalable, easily integrated with existing IT infrastructure, and is supported by GVR's expansive, forecourt-experienced, field engineering team. This ensures a smooth transition to electric vehicles for fleets, while maximizing operational efficiency.
EV charging provides fuel retailers with opportunities to monetize longer dwell times by attracting drivers in-store, upselling additional services, and integrating with their own loyalty schemes. Konect supports sophisticated energy management technologies, enabling operators to sell electricity back to the grid.
The deep connectivity of Konect allows chargers to self-diagnose and fix up to 80% of software problems, minimizing downtime. Konect offers three levels of customer service, ensuring quick resolution of issues. The service includes consultancy, financing, maintenance, and in-life customer support.
Konect utilizes proven payment and charger management systems and builds on decades of strong relationships between GVR and its fuel retailer and fleet customers. The firms that GVR relies on for the development of Konect are two companies from South Korea: APsystems and iVVE. This choice avoids the need for cooperation with additional suppliers.
GVR's systems and technologies are designed to integrate seamlessly, ensuring cost efficiency and optimal compatibility. The feedback received for Konect in Europe has been very encouraging. Customers recognize charging as their next big investment and need help in navigating this transition.
As GVR continues to grow, it has facilities in countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. With Konect, GVR is poised to lead the way in the electric vehicle revolution, anticipating making exciting announcements later this year.
