Glasner insists that Guehi remains at Crystal Palace

In the world of football, speculation and intrigue abound, and Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi is currently at the heart of it all. With his contract expiring next summer, Guehi's future at Selhurst Park is uncertain, and Liverpool has entered the fray, expressing interest in signing the defender.

According to reports, Liverpool has opened talks for a transfer deal valued around £30-35 million, but Crystal Palace's Chairman, Steve Parish, has made it clear that the club does not want to let Guehi leave on a free transfer. This stance was reiterated by Parish earlier, highlighting the club's desire to retain the services of their highly-rated defender.

Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace manager, has also urged Guehi to stay, expressing concern about the potential impact of his departure on the upcoming games. Glasner believes the team is "below the edge" and starting the season in a challenging way. He hopes Guehi will be available for selection in the upcoming games, which include six fixtures from August 10th to the 31st.

The team's current squad strength is 14 players, with two asked to leave the club. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Guehi, Glasner is optimistic about the squad's potential, stating that they have the capacity to turn their current form around.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the only goal in Crystal Palace's first European fixture in the Conference League, defeating Frederikstad 1-0. Mateta also created two chances for his team-mates and took three shots in the game, two of which were on target.

However, the team cannot register new players ahead of their second leg against Fredrikstad next week. If Guehi leaves and is unavailable for Fredrikstad, the team may have "big troubles." Palace cannot register anyone to replace Guehi if he departs, adding to the urgency of the situation.

Elsewhere, Eberechi Eze is reportedly close to securing a move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal, further adding to the potential overhaul of the squad.

As the transfer window draws to a close, the future of Marc Guehi remains uncertain, with Liverpool's interest providing a compelling narrative for Crystal Palace fans to follow. The coming weeks promise to be an exciting time for the Eagles as they navigate this period of transition.
