Global gathering: Invitation extended by Dormagen to its partner city Chipata for a joint event
On September 3rd, the city of Dormagen, Germany, invites its residents and the public to an evening of encounter with guests from its partner town, Chipata, Zambia. The event will take place at the Historic Town Hall Dormagen from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
This event, titled "Chipata Close Up," is a unique opportunity to experience the German-Zambian twin city partnership. The evening aims to provide answers to questions about life in a Zambian city and the connection between people from Dormagen and people from Chipata.
Mayor Erik Lierenfeld describes the partnership as a bridge between cultures and people, a sentiment echoed by George Mwanza, the Mayor of Chipata. Both mayors will be present at the event, engaging in a digital connection to discuss the origins and significance of the partnership established in October 2022.
Lieselotte Heinz, Dormagen's coordinator for the twin city partnership, will be presenting during the event. The evening will offer personal conversations, cultural exchange, and exciting insights into life in Chipata and current projects.

Planned activities and a partnership association intended to strengthen cooperation in the long term will also be presented at the event. Chipata, Zambia, has a population of approximately 85,963 inhabitants, with main occupations primarily focused on agriculture and trading.
