Global skills collide with local job prospects
In the heart of Bavaria, Regensburg played host to an enlightening event organised by Invenio, a leading development partner for innovative technical solutions. The visit, aimed at providing students with a practical insight into the local working world, highlighted possible career prospects and served as a valuable opportunity for students to get to know potential employers and establish direct contacts.
Katja Eckardt and Jhoana Palacio-Pineda, both from the University of Regensburg, emphasised the importance of such cooperations, stating that they create a "win-win" situation for companies, students, and the location of Regensburg. Roland Weiß, economic promoter in the organization, echoed this sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the visit.
Invenio presented exciting projects in the fields of engineering and digitalization, underscoring the region's commitment to recognising and fostering the potential of international students. Jürgen Schiller, site manager of Invenio in Regensburg, emphasised the importance of personal exchange, stating that the company is always looking for motivated, well-trained specialists, regardless of origin or nationality.
The event was part of a continuing series of events aimed at introducing international specialists to the local job market early on. The project, known as "iSTEPS", involves the collaboration between the City of Regensburg and the University of Regensburg to promote international talents and increase their labor market potential. The regional management project is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, and is considered beneficial for all parties involved.
The event was one of the measures within the cooperation project "Increasing employment potential", which is a strategic effort to retain qualified international graduates in the region in the long term. The series of events will open up long-term prospects in the region for international specialists, ensuring that Regensburg remains a hub for innovation and technical excellence.
Such cooperations are considered a "win for everyone involved", as they not only benefit the students and companies, but also the region as a whole. The visit to Invenio is just one example of the commitment Regensburg has towards recognising and fostering the potential of international students, ensuring a bright and innovative future for all.
