In the heart of Washington D.C., the Kennedy Center, the city's largest cultural institution, is set to honour iconic singer Gloria Gaynor for her artistic lifetime achievements. Gaynor, best known for her anthems "I Will Survive" and "I Am What I Am," gained worldwide fame in the 70s and 80s.

Born in 1943 in the US state of New Jersey, Gaynor's career has been a testament to resilience and faith. She attributes her success to her unwavering faith, stating that she would not be where she is today without it.

Gaynor currently resides in a shared apartment in Washington D.C., affectionately referred to as a "Golden Girls" WG by her niece. Her companion is another divorcee, and together they cook, spend days, and attend church every Sunday. When unable to attend church in person, Gaynor watches an online sermon.

In a recent interview, Gaynor expressed her openness to whatever God has in store for her in terms of love. As of now, she does not have a new love. Her previous marriage was to her manager Linwood Simon, which lasted from 1979 to 2005.

The awards ceremony for Gloria Gaynor will take place on December 7 at the opera house of the Kennedy Center. The details of the incident involving a shop thief in Hamm, Germany, and the local sports team ASV Hamm-Westfalen starting the new season with a derby win, however, seem unrelated to Gaynor's achievements and current life in Washington D.C.

US President Trump has control over the Kennedy Center, but it remains unclear if his role will impact the honouring of Gloria Gaynor. Nonetheless, the music legend's impact on the world of entertainment and her personal journey continue to inspire many.
