Saudi Pro League Kicks Off with Exciting Opening Matches

The 2025-26 Saudi Pro League season got underway this weekend, with several exciting matches taking place across the kingdom.

In one of the day's standout performances, Joao Felix made a stunning league debut for Al-Nassr, scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Al-Taawoun. Felix's first goal came after just seven minutes, with his second and third goals arriving midway through the second half and close to full-time, respectively.

Felix's second goal was a fine strike from distance, while his third was scored from close range. The Portuguese star's impressive display marked a promising start to his Al-Nassr career.

Meanwhile, Al-Hilal, Riyadh rivals of Al-Nassr, began their campaign with a 2-0 win at home. The new coach of Al-Hilal for the 2025-26 season is Simone Inzaghi, appointed in June 2025 to replace Jorge Jesus. He has already led the team through a strong FIFA Club World Cup campaign and will begin his Saudi Pro League management with the 2025-26 season.

The opening goal for Al-Hilal was scored by Moteb Al-Harbi midway through the first half, with an assist from Salem Al-Dawsari. Kingsley Coman scored the second goal in the 55th minute, heading home from the edge of the area. Cristiano Ronaldo also scored a goal from the penalty spot in the 54th minute.

An early claim for a goal from new signing Darwin Nunez was ruled out during Al-Hilal's game. The goal was a first-time shot from the left side of the penalty spot into the opposite corner.

Elsewhere, Al-Khaleej defeated Al-Shabab 4-1, while Champions Al-Ittihad will begin the defense of their title on Saturday at Al-Okhdood.

The 2025-26 Saudi Pro League season promises to be an exciting one, with several high-profile signings and new coaches adding an extra layer of intrigue to the competition. Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds.
