Goals for Electrifying Vehicles by Certain Auto Companies

The automobile industry is gearing up for a significant shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) in the coming years. Major players in the market have announced ambitious plans to increase their EV sales and transition their fleets to low-emission vehicles.

BMW aims to make up half of its global sales with fully electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2022. By the end of 2025, the company expects to sell over 2 million BEVs and reach 10 million by 2030. General Motors (GM) has set a goal to have 30 BEV models available by 2025 and aims to sell only zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2035.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) plans to invest $30 billion in electrification by 2025 and aims to have 50 electrified models in its lineup by 2025. By 2026, Stellantis, the new company formed by the merger of FCA and PSA Group, plans to have a fully electrified lineup. FCA's electric vehicles will be manufactured in North America, Europe, and China and will use batteries with a range of up to 500 kilometers.

Alpha Romeo has committed to providing a fully electric fleet by 2027, while Maserati, another brand under FCA, plans to launch its first fully electric model by 2025. Jeep, another FCA brand, plans to offer a plug-in hybrid option on all SUVs by 2022. FCA's Ram brand will introduce an all-electric pickup truck by 2024.

Honda has a goal of 100 percent ZEV sales in North America by 2040, and Buick has pledged to make all new vehicles electric by 2030. Kia aims to sell 1.2 million BEVs worldwide by 2030, while Hyundai aims to sell 1.87 million BEVs annually by 2030.

Porsche aims for 50 percent of its sales to be electric in 2025 and 80 percent by 2030. Mercedes-Benz will have all newly launched vehicle platforms electric-only from 2025 onward. Nissan aims to have 40 percent of vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electrified by 2030.

Volkswagen has set the goal to convert all its models worldwide to electric drive by 2035. Stellantis aims for 100 percent of sales in Europe and 50 percent in the U.S. to be low-emission vehicles by 2025. FCA's electric vehicles will use batteries from CATL, a Chinese battery manufacturer.

The shift towards EVs is not just a trend but a necessity as governments worldwide are pushing for stricter emissions standards and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The move towards electric vehicles is expected to reshape the automobile industry and provide new opportunities for innovation and growth.
