Google Home users can anticipate the arrival of Gemini in a few weeks, with the company hinting at potential new hardware offerings as well.

Google is set to revolutionise its home automation products with the launch of Gemini for Home, a more powerful assistant that promises to offer a more context-aware and conversational control experience. The announcement was made at the Made by Google event in August, with the early access upgrade for Nest speakers and displays set to be available from October 1, 2025.

The new assistant will mark the phasing out of Google Assistant on Google's range of devices. With the launch of Gemini for Home, Google aims to compete with Alexa and Apple's upgraded Siri in the smart speaker market.

Google has not upgraded its line of smart speakers since the Nest Audio in 2021, leaving ample time to give its new model some TLC on the voice assistant front. The upcoming Gemini for Home event will likely showcase the new Google Nest speaker's capabilities and features.

One of the main devices expected is a new Nest camera, which has a striking resemblance to the existing Google Nest Cam but is likely a brand new model with Gemini integration and other upgraded features. A new Nest Doorbell may also make an appearance, but the focus is on the new smart speaker.

Gemini for Home will have the ability to answer complex voice commands, such as playing a song from a specific decade or adjusting the temperature of a Nest thermostat and dimming the lights. However, no live demonstrations of Gemini for Home's capabilities were given at the Made by Google event in August.

No specific details have been provided about the new smart speaker's design, functionality, or price. It remains to be seen what Google will do to get ahead of its competitors in the voice assistant front for its new smart speaker.

Google is also planning to introduce new lines of smart home devices. Users can sign up for updates regarding Gemini for Home to stay informed about the latest developments. A mysterious Nest smart speaker was teased at last month's Made by Google event, but Google never followed with an explanation.

The launch of Gemini for Home marks an exciting time for Google's home automation products, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for this innovative new assistant.
