Government Confrontation: Manoj Jarange Issues Threat to Administration with "Triumphant Parade or Mourning Procession" Statement
In South Mumbai, the ongoing agitation by Maratha protestors has seen an estimated 25,000 individuals extend their presence at Azad Maidan. The rally, which has attracted thousands from across Maharashtra, has maintained a peaceful demeanour throughout.
At the forefront of the movement is Manoj Jarange, who has been making headlines with his fiery speeches. Jarange, in a recent statement, expressed his defiance, saying, "Lakhs of people are behind me. I am not scared of your dadagiri." The term "dadagiri" is a reference to bullying or strong-arm tactics and is often associated with Raj Thackeray, the politician against whom Jarange issued a warning.
Jarange has been vocal about his concerns, particularly towards BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, who he has accused of making derogatory remarks about him and the Maratha community. In an appeal, Jarange asked BJP MP Narayan Rane and Nilesh Rane to intervene and restrain Nitesh from further provocative statements.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has also found himself in the crosshairs of Jarange's criticism. Jarange accused Fadnavis of "changing colors like a chameleon" and of infiltrating the agitation with police in plain clothes for surveillance purposes.
Despite his aggressive rhetoric, Jarange has urged his supporters to remain peaceful. In a show of his commitment to non-violence, he has even issued a warning to Nitesh Rane about his actions.
The city of Mumbai, as well as the state of Maharashtra, is closely watching the developments at Azad Maidan. The peaceful protests have so far managed to maintain order, but tensions remain high. Fadnavis is being urged to also maintain peace in the city as the agitation continues.
