Government Executive Body
In the heart of Bavaria, Augsburg boasts a rich cultural landscape, thanks in part to the Cultural Advisory Board. Established in February 2013, this diverse group aims to promote cooperation between political representatives and cultural organisations, fostering a mutual understanding that strengthens the city's cultural identity.
The board, consisting of over 20 representatives, includes individuals from various walks of life. Markus Becker, for instance, is a Voting Member associated with the Downtown Music Institute. Dr. Karl Borromäus Murr, the Director of the State Textile and Industrial Museum, is also a representative. Anne Schuester, on the other hand, represents Dr. Sebastian Seidel, while Georg Heckel, the Generalmusikdirektor, is represented by an unspecified individual.
Artists are well-represented on the board. Sophie Te, an Artist, and Stefanie Schlesinger, a Jazz Singer/Composer, bring their creative perspectives to the table. Klara Blöchl and Mona Rother, representatives for Margot Kloos and Christiane Lembert-Dobler respectively, also contribute their artistic insights.
Academia is also represented, with professors such as Prof. Andreas Kunert from the University of Augsburg, Prof. Daniel Mark Eberhard from the Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum, and Prof. Andrea Gottdang and Prof. Carolin Jörg from the University and College.
The board also includes representatives from various cultural institutions, such as Thomas Lindner, associated with Kulturparkwest, and Klaus Maciol, representing Udo Legner. The theater scene is represented by the likes of André Bücker, Intendant of the State Theater Augsburg, and Wolfgang Lackerschmid.
The Round Table of Religions is represented by Josef Strzegowski and Zaid Jafer. The Alevitic Community is represented by Mert Yilmaz, a Theater Scientist. Patrick Jung is associated with the City Youth Ring, while Korbinian Grabmeier is linked to Choreoloop e.V., theter ensemble, and green belt.
The custodians of the cultural institutions include Verena von Mutius, Dr. Pia Haertinger, and Gabriele Thoma. Elke Seidel is part of the Management, hailing from the Cultural Office. Dr. Martha Schad is the Vice-Chairwoman, also serving as the City Heritage Custodian.
The board's goal is to consider the entire diverse cultural landscape of Augsburg, ensuring that all voices are heard and that the city continues to thrive culturally. The board advises the city council and the cultural committee on cultural matters, aiming to strengthen mutual understanding and promote cooperation.
Not all representatives have been specified, as the identities of the representatives of factions and groups represented in the city council are yet to be disclosed. However, the board's commitment to Augsburg's cultural scene remains unwavering.
Sponsors in the cultural sector may include Stadtsparkasse Augsburg, contributing to the board's efforts to promote and support Augsburg's vibrant cultural landscape. With the Cultural Advisory Board at the helm, Augsburg's cultural future looks bright indeed.
