Government Official Advocates for Broadening Digital Services of Justice Departments Online
In an effort to streamline administrative processes and reduce the need for in-person visits to government offices, the Brandenburg Ministry of Justice, led by Minister Benjamin Grimm (SPD), aims to make 16 focus services of citizens' offices accessible online in more municipalities.
The focus services include changing one's address, applying for a driver's license, and digitally submitting proof for a building permit. These online services can be used to perform these tasks from the comfort of one's home.
While the ministry does not specify which municipalities these online services will be available in, Minister Grimm told the "Nordkurier" that he wants to make central tasks of citizens' offices accessible online in more and more municipalities.
The programs for these online services are already in use somewhere, and they are designed to be used elsewhere. The ministry does not mention a specific timeline for when these online services will be available, but the goal is to process these tasks "as extensively as possible" online during this legislative period.
The ministry does not specify any requirements for accessing these online services, such as internet speed or specific devices. However, it is common for these services to be used frequently, and the ministry states that it is intended that these administrative tasks can be performed online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to offices.
Minister Grimm's aim is to ensure these online services are used in all municipalities and throughout the state. The ministry does not mention any potential challenges or difficulties in implementing these online services, but the task now is to ensure they are implemented successfully.
On a national level, efforts are being made towards digitalising currency and digital identity, which may also replace coins and notes in the future. However, in Brandenburg, there is currently no specific Münz-Digitalisierungsinitiative in this legislative period. Regarding the 16 most frequently used administrative tasks, no information is available on which of them are still not available online in Brandenburg.
The ministry does not specify whether there will be any fees associated with these online services. Minister Grimm stated that all these focus services are already in use somewhere, and the programs for these online services are designed to be used elsewhere. The ministry's goal is to process these tasks online as extensively as possible during this legislative period.
