The Thai government has set up a new Special Operations Centre for Thai-Cambodian Border Situations Management (SOC-TCBSM) to oversee security along the Thai-Cambodian border. The centre was established by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's administration.

The SOC-TCBSM will serve as the main channel for disseminating information to the public, ensuring transparency in its operations. It will be headed by a deputy defence minister as director, with the secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC), the permanent secretary for foreign affairs, and the permanent secretary for the interior serving as deputy directors.

The centre's mandate includes monitoring and assessing developments along the Thai-Cambodian border, analysing risks, and recommending measures to the NSC, the prime minister, or the cabinet. It can establish sub-committees, set up working groups, or assign officials to specific tasks.

The Caretaker Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai signed an order to continue the work of the special centre, emphasising a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Cambodia. The order stresses the importance of adhering to principles of sovereignty, equality, territorial integrity, and respect for national identity. It also underlines that all actions should respect the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Cooperation with Cambodia must remain bilateral and not be influenced by third-party countries or organisations. Regular reports must be submitted to the NSC, the prime minister, or the cabinet, and the centre's performance will be monitored by the NSC Office, which will provide administrative, academic, and communication support.

Government agencies, state entities, and enterprises are required to provide information, documents, and other support upon request. The SOC-TCBSM will coordinate cross-agency efforts for a unified response, with key members including the permanent secretary of defence, commanders of the armed forces, the head of the Internal Security Operations Command, and senior officials from key government agencies.

The operations of the SOC-TCBSM will be transparent and accountable, with regular reports and updates to the public. The current head of the SOC-TCBSM is not specified in the search results. However, the centre's establishment marks a significant step towards maintaining peace and security along the Thai-Cambodian border.
