Graduation Ceremony at Hagen City Hall Celebrates New Bachelor Degree Recipients

In a memorable event held at Hagen City Hall, the University of Police and Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia (HSPV NRW) celebrated the graduation of its students. Approximately 3,500 students, including 188 from the Police Service (PVD) and 97 from the Municipal Administrative Service (KVD), received their Bachelor certificates in August 2025.

The graduation ceremony was marked by welcoming speeches from Mayor Erik O. Schulz and Police President Ursula Tomahogh. The event also featured musical accompaniment by the group "Ich und Du", and a representative of the three major religions, Imam Turan, delivered a speech.

The student representative gave a look back and forward, reflecting on their time at HSPV NRW and expressing excitement for the future. The best graduates of the year were also awarded at the ceremony.

HSPV NRW offers six Bachelor's degree programs: Administrative Informatics (B.A.), State Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Police Service (B.A.), Municipal Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Municipal Administrative Service - Administrative Business Administration (B.A.), and Pension Insurance (LL.B.). In addition to these, HSPV NRW offers its own Master's program, the Master of Public Management (MPM).

Besides Hagen, the university offers study locations in Aachen, Bielefeld, Dortmund, Duisburg, Gelsenkirchen, Herne, Cologne, and Münster. The university prepares students for their first entry-level positions in the police, state administration, municipal administration, and pension insurance.

Prof. Dr. Iris Wiesner, the HSPV Vice-President, emphasized the importance of academic qualification as a sign of a modern, future-oriented state.
