Grants for livening up urban cores: €105,000 for eligible initiatives - Grants Totaling 105,000 Euro Allocated for City Revitalization Projects
The state government of Rhineland-Palatinate has announced the awarding of prizes for projects aimed at enhancing the vibrancy of inner cities and town centers. A total of 40 cities applied for the prize, and the jury selected eight projects in total.
The new 'All In' Rhineland-Palatinate inner city prize 2025 aims to honor projects that revitalize inner cities and town centers. Among the winners are Trier, Alzey, Bad Kreuznach, Herxheim, and Zweibrücken, each receiving 10,000 euros. The municipality of Andernach, however, received the highest prize of 30,000 euros for the project "Friday First."
Andernach's inner city will be transformed into a stage every first Friday of the month, with activities in gastronomy, shops, and hotels. The project targets a wide range of audiences, including residents, families, youth, seniors, and tourists.
Minister of Economics Daniela Schmitt (FDP) stated that the state government also wants to honor the people behind these projects. "The 'Friday First' project in Andernach is a great example of how collaboration between local businesses and the community can breathe new life into an inner city," Schmitt said.
The "Friday First" project in Andernach is not the only one being celebrated. The "Wow" project in Ludwigshafen, which received a special prize of 5,000 euros, bundles different formats of city tours to make the city's cultural offerings more visible. The project targets a wide range of audiences, including residents, families, youth, seniors, and tourists.
The Ministry of Economics announced the awarding of the prizes for the vibrant inner city projects. The other seven awarded projects, apart from Ludwigshafen's "Wow" project and Andernach's "Friday First," were not provided with specific details in the text.
The state government of Rhineland-Palatinate hopes that these projects will inspire other communities to take action and revitalize their own inner cities and town centers. The prizes range up to 30,000 euros, with a total funding of 105,000 euros distributed among the eight projects.
