The summer of 2025 promises an extraordinary musical experience as the Ensemble Unterwegs embarks on a multi-day hike through the picturesque Arnsberg area. This unique ensemble, known for their unconventional approach to classical music, will be performing in various locations, from the heart of nature to more private "guest performances."
Founded in 2009, Ensemble Unterwegs has made a name for itself by breaking free from the rigid structures of traditional concerts. Their self-moderated performances offer a personal and intimate musical experience that expands communication with the audience.
The ensemble consists of four professional musicians: violinist Anna Neubert, a violist, a cellist, and a soprano. They prioritize intimate contact with the audience, bringing music directly and spontaneously to the people, often in unexpected locations.
The tour, which is part of the Arnsberg Cultural Summer, will kick off at Wildwald Vosswinkel on Tuesday, August 19th, at 3:30 PM. The opening concert will set the tone for a week-long musical adventure, with the ensemble unpacking their instruments and performing impromptu concerts throughout the region.
The diverse encounters with people and nature provide inspiration for unique stories that the ensemble incorporates into their concerts, offering the audience a completely new auditory and sonic experience.
The musical repertoire of Ensemble Unterwegs includes well-known art songs and hidden gems from obscure or rarely performed repertoire. They value German folk songs and strive to keep alive traditional cultural heritage that may be at risk of being forgotten.
The tour will conclude on Sunday, August 24th, at 5 PM, with a free closing concert in the Auferstehungskirche on Neumarkt. Seating is limited, so it's advisable to arrive early.
